Using Julie Norton's Take the Hard Out of Hardanger we will learn the basics of this beautiful Norwegian needleart.  Julie has come up with some very unique alternative techniques for working the stitches and takes the fear out of cutting the fabric threads.  She puts it so well:

"A student once asked me: "Why is it, that the craft I chose ….to relax….after a stressful day is composed of the two words hard and anger?" I hope that this book will answer some of your questions and explain to you more clearly, both traditional Hardanger methods and my alternative Hardanger techniques as well. To help YOU "Take the Hard out of Hardanger". This 18 page spiral bound reference text has detailed techniques for the basting method, anchor and binding techniques, kloster block formation, buttonhole edge, eyelets, fear-free cutting, plain wrap, the perfect picot, dove's eye, adjoining wrap and the dove's eye variation wrap; along with countless tricks of the trade to create nearly flawless Hardanger."

Along with this fabulous book you will have your choice of one of several designs by Julie.  Practice piece fabric and fibers will be provided.  Bring (or buy) sharp pointed scissors and a hoop, scroll frame or Q-Snap frame if you like to work with your fabric taunt.  (Taunt fabric makes the stitching alot easier.)  Fabric and fibers for your chosen pattern will be available for purchase.
